Purdue Computer Science

Purdue computer science has made a significant impact on the industry. Computer scientists’ work has an impact on millions of people, ranging from big data to security to mobile apps and healthcare software.

Purdue’s Department of Computer Science is housed in the College of Science and is the oldest computer science department in the world. This department has a long history of innovation, both in scientific research advancements and creating applications for industry. You’ll be able to learn the basics of computer science and adapt your skills as the field evolves in exciting and dynamic ways.

Curriculum

In six core Purdue computer science courses, you will learn the basics of computing. You can then customize your degree by choosing one or more tracks. These are different areas in computer science that you can learn and develop.

Do you have many interests? It’s no problem. Students can pursue interdisciplinarity work through our flexible curriculum. Many students double major in statistics, math, or data science.

Student Life

The Purdue computer science program fosters skin better science a sense of community. We have many resources that will help you succeed. These include the Bridge Program, which can introduce you to coding in the summer before your freshman years begins, and the Computer Science Learning Community where you’ll live with your CS freshman peers in Purdue residence halls.

Transfer to Purdue Computer Science

Purdue allows students to choose individual majors. Purdue requires that transfer students meet all requirements for majors and the overall transfer criteria. To confirm that this major is available to transfer students, please check the page on closed programs before you submit your application. MDE and IDES Students: Empowering Purple

This blog was created in order to further our mission of building community. Students and engineers can come together to learn more about each other. This blog can also be used to help prospective students understand that even if they don’t feel like they fit in with another engineering discipline, they might find a home here. We are always open and hope to see you at the NEST!

  • Empowering Purple
  • Two types of engineering can be found in our country:
  • Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies (IDES)
  • Multidisciplinary Engineering (MDE).

There is no standard engineering student in the MDE/IDES program. We create new and emerging fields that broaden the knowledge and breadth of engineering beyond the discipline. Our school is home to the future engineers, from Acoustical to Humanitarian and Global Defense. Our strength and community are formed by the many paths that our students take and how they view engineering. Students can take classes in many disciplines, contribute to valuable areas of work, go to top-tier graduate programs and even get into professional schools. MDE/IDES encourages students to make a difference and apply engineering wherever they go.
